Amongst new house builds and commercial construction, Ducon specializes in renovating existing workspaces to suit the needs of the client.
And Trenton Glass, fortunately, is their glazier of choice when it comes to the complicated, time sensitive, and budget conscience projects. And this this project was no exception!
The main concern the client wanted to address was the security of the associates at the reception counter.
Unfortunately the CAS does encounter individuals who are not always in the right mindset, and we wanted to create a peace of mind for the people on the other side of the counter.
In addition to security, we also wanted an open appearance so as to not add a jail style look to and architecturally pleasing reception area.
The solution was to use “ARENA” style glazing.
This glass would be the same thickness and type of glass we would generally install to the top of the hockey arena boards.
This real-world tried and tested glass is made to stand up to a constant serious beating on a regular basis, Ducon Contractors determined this glass would be ideal.
The glass is secured to the countertop with a stainless U channel and a custom glass clamp at the top.
The speak hole and pass-thru were specifically designed to suit the clients requirements (yes, we measured the UPS boxes).
The 2 pieces of glass were bonded together using a type of UV activated adhesive. Once bonded, it creates a completely unbreakable seal ( the glass would break before the bond).
By attaching the 2 corners together, we have created an even stronger security wall as the 2 pieces now work together to add strength.
