This system is very popular. And safe. When installed correctly with the proper glass it is a fully engineered handrail that can make even the most picky building inspectors smile.
The system incorporates a powder coated aluminum post with stainless steel glass clamps.
We incorporated the roof structure into handrail by adding the same clamps to the post. This helped tie the modern handrail into the classic wood structure.
Trenton Glass has a specific mounting system hidden from view to add additional strength to make sure the engineering is possible on almost any structure.
In this particular application we used a 1/2″ clear tempered glass with polished edges that provides a classy and elegant “beefy” attitude. Was it overkill, Probably, but you have to know the owner of the house to understand….
One of the most interesting parts of this installation was the self-closing and locking full glass gate.
By using a magnetic latch attached to the house, the Owner can be sure to keep his critters in, and the unwanted ones out!
Going down the stairs we opted for the same post at the bottom and again used the wood column for the top.
In the middle we used a stainless steel stand-off bracket that is bolted through the glass.
The advantage of this is added support to eliminate any back and forth in the glass
