Putting a restaurant in the middle of a golf course creates more problems than grass cuttings on the patio.
When the Bay of Quinte golf course decided to put a high end restaurant at their brand new clubhouse, the patio seemed like the perfect spot to enjoy the cuisine while watching the other golfers finish their rounds.
Located beside the green of a popular hole, there was always the possibility of some less-than-PGA-quality players sending the odd stray golf ball in their direction.
In addition to this, it was also a major fairway which in itself creates an unwanted wind which otherwise would limit the patio usage
The solution was to install a custom tempered glass wall supported by custom made aluminum posts specifically designed for this application.
The extra thick glass runs up 8ft above the ground for extra diner protection.
A major problem began to occur after installation. the wind was so strong in this area it actually moved the posts and was making the glass fall out!
Because of the strength of the glass, the glass would not break, but obviously the glass falling out was a bit of an issue. The solution was to weld an additional support across the top of the posts to tie everything together and make it all work together against the forces of the wind
Now with the additional supports, this wall is ready for whatever mother nature and father golfer can send at it
I can honestly say I never can really know where my golf balls are going to end up.. but even I would have a hard time getting one past this wall!
