Another little project completed by our sister company, Prince Edward County Glass (613 919 1329)
This is a very typical shower installation.
Due to size of typical washrooms, during renovations, there is always the discussion on what to do with the shower.
The vanity and toilets are generally in a fixed location, which means you have to play with the shower location, size, and style to suit the new bathroom layout.
In this particular case, it was decided that the ideal location was in the corner between the toilet and sink.
As always, the hardware colour was determined based on the bathroom fixtures
The 24″ wide door features angled, self centering hinges and a standard 6″ back to back pull.
These hinges allow the door to swing both in and out depending on the users preference, and always bring the back to center.
The 10mm thick tempered glass sidelites are fixed into position using matching glass clamps, rather than the standard perimeter U channel. There is no real advantage either way, except of course the overall finished appearance.
As you notice the door does not go all the way to the ceiling. This is to allow steam and moisture to leave the shower.
In the event the customer is looking to create an actual “steam shower”, this area is filled with a piece of glass that can be pivoted open as they see fit.
